The 54th edition of Binibining Pilipinas is slated to take place in the month of April. During the conclusion of the pageant, Maria Mika Maxine Medina (Miss Universe Philippines 2016), Kylie Verzosa ( Miss International 2016), Joanna Louise Eden (Miss Supranational Philippines 2016), Jennifer Hammond  (Miss Intercontinental Philippines 2016), Nicole Cordoves (Miss Grand Philippines 2016) and Nichole Marie Manalo (Miss Globe Philippines 2016) will pass on their crowns to their respective successors.
The winners of Binibining Pilipinas 2017 will represent Philippines at Miss Universe 2017, Miss International 2017, Miss Supranational 2017, Miss Grand International 2017, Miss Intercontinental 2017 and Miss Globe 2017. Lat year, Kylie Verzosa went on to win Miss International title, while Maxine Medina went on to become third runner up at Miss Universe 2016.

Philippines has held a terrific record at Miss Universe pageant recently. Since 2010, Philippines is consecutively placing at Miss Universe for seven straight years. In these seven years, Philippines has placed five times in the Top 5 finalists through Maxine Medina, Venus Raj, Shamcey Supsup, Janine Tugonon and Ariella Arida, once in Top 10 semi-finalists through Mary Jean Lastimosa and has won its third crown after 42 years through the courtesy of Pia Wurtzbach.
