Shaan Suhas Kumar has been chosen as Miss Earth India 2017. She succeeds Rashi Yadav as the new Miss Earth India and will now compete at the 17th edition of Miss Earth 2017 pageant which is slated to take place in Philippines on November 4, 2017 at the Mall of Asia Arena in Pasay, Metro Manila, Philippines.
Twenty five years old, Shaan Suhas Kumar, hails from the city of lakes, Bhopal, Madhya Pradesh and is a media student. Apart from modeling, she is also passionate about some social works. She has also been an NCC Cadet and is a trained classical dancer. She was also a part of Miss Earth India 2016 and was adjudged as Miss Earth India Air, that is first runner up to the eventual winner.
On being asked, why Shaan is devoted to represent India at Miss Earth pageant, she opines, “What has stood out to me is the fact that Miss Earth India is a very holistic pageant. Apart from concentrating on beauty it is extremely committed to two causes – Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao, and Green Waste Free India. In a country like ours, these two are pressing issues and the focus given to these causes by the organization is not only timely and appropriate but also of supreme importance. The idea of being a women ambassador, an example to other women and men in the country and being a leader in driving positive change for these causes, is what excites me immensely.” (Read Shaan Suhas Kumar’s Interview with The Kaleidoscope of Pageantry Here!)
India has won Miss Earth once in 2010 under the representation of Nicole Faria, who is currently an established model and actress. However, India has not placed at Miss Earth since Nicole Faria won the Miss Earth crown in 2010. Do you think Shaan will end the long drought of India at Miss Earth 2017? Do share your opinions!
