Beauty Talks with Miss Earth T&T Ariana Rampersad

Miss Oneness TT 2013 and Miss Earth Trinidad and Tobago 2013 Ariana Rampersad talks with Missosology.

1.) In what way are you involved with an environmental project?

Recycling – collecting waste plastics from companies to be recycled. Beach cleanups and replanting of trees.

2.) Name the three most important things that everyone should do to help preserve the environment.

– We need to understand that water is essential to our survival and the conservation of water in any way will make big differences. Water pollution is also a threat to many of our water sources. Without water, everything withers!
– The 3 R’s! Reduce, Reuse, Recycle. The earth is our home and if we pollute it and exploit its resources, we will soon have no home.
– Energy Conservation – simply turning off lights in rooms that are not in use can make a difference. Changing incandescent light bulbs with compact fluorescent light can both save money and meet energy requirements. Also conserving fossil fuels can give researchers more time to find alternative sources of energy that are affordable and practical.

3.) What are your qualities that you think will make you a good Miss Earth?

I am both dedicated and hard-working. Not only am I actively involved in recycling efforts nationwide, I am also involved in the conservation program for the leatherback turtles at the Matura beach. In addition my course of study is Environmental Economics which gives me a greater understanding of what needs to be done in the industrial sector to promote sustainability and preservation of the environment as much as possible.

4.) What is the essence of Miss Earth pageant?

The Miss Earth pageant seeks to promote the protection and preservation of Mother Earth through the beauty and splendor of its candidates and winners. It upholds ideals such as the treatment of the Earth with the respect it deserves. Even the logo depicts a woman’s grace and form holding the Earth upwards in reverence. the Earth or globe represents a valuable gemstone in the center of a royal crown formed by the four rays emanating from the “globe” which forms the crown and symbolizes the four elements of the Earth – hence Woman of the Earth.

5.) Can you give us a rough description of your National Costume?

My national costume is representative of the wonderful birds here in Trinidad and Tobago. It is heavily jeweled in likeness of Trinidad and Tobago which reflects the many beautiful eco-tourist destinations…like little jewels sparkling throughout our twin-island paradise.

6.) What is inside your bag right now?

Makeup! Diary to keep track of my day to day activities; keys; mints; wallet and a snack for when I get hungry

7.) Describe the town or city where you grew up.

I grew up in a little village in central Trinidad called Chase Village. In my younger years there were wide open spaces where my cousins and I would play and ride our bikes. Now, it is fast developing into a business center where you can get just about anything from pottery to medical services.

8.) Tell us something that most people don’t know about you.

I am very shy, it usually takes me a while to become comfortable in different situations.

9.) What are you looking forward the most in the Philippines ?

I am looking forward to experiencing the vastly different culture first hand and getting the opportunity to meet all the beauties from around the world. I think it will definitely be a learning experience and I hope to maximize my potential and return with the crown. I strive to do Trinidad and Tobago proud and be the best representative.

10.) Lastly, a message to all your fans at Missosology.

To my fans: your support is tremendously appreciated. I am humbled to be in a position to represent and market the true essence of Trinidad and Tobago. It is with extreme sincerity that I promise to strive to make you proud. Let us work together striving for excellence and let us consider our environmental responsibilities and try our utmost best to do what’s necessary to make this world a better place for all of us.
