Annie Evans, a 19 year old beauty from Auckland, won the Miss World New Zealand 2017 crown! She will represent New Zealand at the Miss World 2017 which will be held in China later this year. Annie, who spend some time living in Shanghai, China, is currently studying commerce at the University of Auckland. In the same pageant, Meghan Kenney was hailed as the 1st runner-up while Michelle Isemonger was named as the second runner-up.
Describing herself as a driven young woman, Annie Evans is passionate about charity having been exposed to the less fortunate in China which was a far cry from her community in Auckland. She confessed that she loves to travel and is into sports and music.
Interestingly, New Zealand is yet to win the Miss World crown. This actually baffles many pageant analysts who view Miss World as a pageant that is friendly towards the nations who are the members of the Commonwealth (a group of countries that are mainly ex-British colonies). New Zealand though had 2 near misses when Elaine Miscall (1963) and Lauralee Martinovich (1997) bagged the first runner-up title.
